Faculty Lecture Series this Spring

The SIAM student chapter will be continuing our faculty lecture series this spring with three great talks. The schedule is given below.

This lecture series in intended to provide entry level talks introducing grad student to useful tools that we may not see within our coursework. This is a great opportunity to broaden your math toolkit and interact with faculty in a small classroom setting. More detailed announcements will come as we approach the time of each talk.

A Mathematicians Guide to Working with Engineers

The SIAM student chapter is hosting our final meeting for the fall semester next Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11:30 in SAS 4201. We welcome Steven Hamilton from Oak Ridge National Laboratory who will be talking about collaborations between mathematicians and engineers. His title and abstract are below. Pizza will be served.

Faculty Lecture Series

The SIAM student chapter is starting a faculty lecture series this year with monthly lectures from various faculty members at NCSU. The lectures will be informal introductions to topics in applied mathematics that are typically not taught in classes.  It provides a great way to broaden your knowledge of active research topics and engage with professors in the department. First SIAM Student Chapter Lecture

The SIAM student chapter is starting a faculty lecture series this year with monthly lectures from various faculty members at NCSU. The lectures will be informal introductions to topics in applied mathematics that are typically not taught in classes.  It provides a great way to broaden your knowledge of active research topics and engage with professors in the department.

Our first lecture will be “Randomized methods in linear algebra with applications to uncertainty quantification” by Alen Alexanderian. It is going to be on Wednesday September 14th from 4:30-5:30 in SAS 1108.
